History

Since 1983, Portland Community College has coordinated this consortium of 12 school districts including 37 high schools, private industry, labor, and other educational institutions including K-12 through graduate school. The Consortium serves a geographic region encompassing approximately 850,000 residents with schools ranging from urban settings to small rural districts. PAVTEC administers over 160 articulation agreements in approximately 20 professional-technical program areas including Arts and Communication, Business and Management, Health Services, Human Resources, Industrial and Engineering, and Natural Resources. The Consortium also provides staff development leading to comprehensive Tech Prep Associate Degree programs for the four campuses of PCC and the feeder public school districts. In 1992, PAVTEC received the U.S. Department of Education Excellence in Tech Prep Award as well as the American Association of Community Colleges Parnell Tech Prep Award.
