Faculty Librarian
Welcome to fall term
Meet the PCC Library faculty and staff. We look forward to working with you.

Faculty Services

PCC Library partners with faculty to help students succeed academically and beyond their time at PCC. You are often the bridge between students and library services. Together we prepare students to excel in today’s information environment. Here are some things the library does to help you support your students.

Copyright clearance services

The library can help you with your copyright questions and can help you obtain copyright clearance for articles used in coursepacks, handouts and more. Find out more about library copyright services.

Course reserves

Reserves are materials that are held aside by the library for use by your students. Find out more about course reserves.

Faculty librarians

PCC librarians provide services to you and your students inside and outside of the classroom. The library provides embedded or individual instruction upon request. Contact us for individual consultations or to request library instruction for your class (see below).

Library faculty also teach a one credit class called Ace Your Research Project. Recommend this class to students writing research papers and you’ll see increased student success. With enough time and enrollment, the library can partner with you to create a class focused on a specific subject area. Contact Torie Scott to discuss this possibility.

Whether you teach on campus or off, PCC librarians are here for you.

Film and video scheduling (booking)

Faculty can schedule films and videos for use in their classrooms through the library. Find out more about film and video scheduling or schedule a video now.

Internationalization

Find out about internationalization and how to bring multicultural perspectives into your classes. This information was prepared by PCC Librarian, Jane Rognlie.

Library collection

The library collection contains a wide variety of items including books, dvds, magazines, journals, research databases, and websites that support the curriculum. Library faculty are responsible for collecting and work with SACCs to determine what to purchase. For details, see the Collection Development Policy.

Find out who your subject specialist is or submit a request for purchase. If funds are available, the library will purchase what you need.

Library instruction for classes

PCC Librarians can arrange customized instruction sessions designed to introduce classes to library research. Instruction is interactive and can be tailored to specific class assignments. Contact us to discuss options for your classes, or fill out the library instruction request form. Call early in the term so a convenient time can be reserved.

Research help

The research area of the library website contains subject guides that are calibrated to the CCOGs of current classes. These guides are created to make your life easier. They feature suggested catalog searches, databases, journals and websites to help you and your students. Use these guides to help your students find information resources they need. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, let us know. We’re happy to customize these resources to support your needs.

The guides also contain links to information that help you and your students understand the information environment. They include information about how to Cite Sources, Avoid Plagiarism, Find Books and Films and more. These links are found on the right hand side of every subject guide. Please take a moment to review them and share them with your students.

Today’s information environment is in constant flux. If you or your students need research assistance, contact us. We’re happy to help.

Your research

Today's information environment is in constant flux. We understand how difficult it can be to stay on top of the latest information tools. PCC librarians can help you with your professional research needs. They are also available to help you update your research skills or brush up on the latest databases.

If you are writing, consider using RefWorks to manage your citations. RefWorks allows you to create, organize and save citations and notes.
