Coursepacks

A coursepack is a packet of materials designed to be used in a class, often in place of a textbook. Coursepacks can contain articles, chapters of books, faculty-created content. Although coursepacks require some up front planning from faculty, they have a number of benefits. They allow faculty added freedom and creativity in course design. They are usually substantially less expensive than textbooks and support the school’s sustainability efforts because they can be printed on demand. They can also be produced to be used by students with vision impairments.

PCC Copyright Clearance office strives to make the production process easy to use. Follow these simple steps to create and distribute a printed coursepack. Electronic coursepacks follow steps one and two:

  1. Identify the material you want to use – one term in advance if possible and contact Lynda Noland lnoland@pcc.edu for more complete information about the process of creating a course pack.
  2. Deliver the materials to Lynda in the Copyright Clearance office at the Sylvania library. Materials can be in electronic or print format.
  3. The library will clear copyright, prepare an electronic version of the coursepack and will deliver to the PCC Printing Office with instructions about printing.
  4. Coursepacks will be sold at the PCC Bookstore at cost.
