Kevin Edwards

I have worked in public and academic libraries since 2005.

As someone recently remarked, I am one of those "rare unicorns that are born and raised in Portland, Oregon." I am also an alumnus of PCC, which I credit for teaching me how to be a successful student and for laying the foundation for all my future academic achievements. I am grateful for the opportunity to return to PCC in order to help others get wherever they want to go and find the information that will help take them there.

My life at PCC actually started in 1976 as a faculty wife. I went on from there to establish my own identity at PCC in 1988 in the Sylvania library as a Work Study student, practicum student and casual employee-all at once! I am a jack of all trades-doing whatever needs to be done. As a campus Supervisor, I hire and train all student help and oversee the access services area. I truly enjoy the diversity of our college.

I have worked in the library since 1999. While volunteering as a practicum student in the PCC Library Media Assistant program, I was so impressed and energized by the cooperative spirit and commitment to student success that I found at PCC, and especially in the library, that I didn't want to leave.

As a proud Portland Oregon native I’ve lived here all of my life. Sometimes people say that I should live in other places and I reply to such a remark, “Why would I want to live any place else? Oregon has everything I want!” Oregon offers so many recreational opportunities that I love, rock climbing in central Oregon, snowboarding at Hood, hiking in the Gorge, kayaking around the inlets of the coast, cross country skiing in Bend – just to name a few!
