Find this and other titles through the library catalog.

Know which magazine or journal title you're looking for? PCC Library subscribes to print and electronic journals and magazines. You can find out whether or not the library has what you need by trying these two ways of searching:

Search the catalog for journals

  • Go to: the library home page
  • Type the title in the search box (like Time or People)
  • Click the "Search everything" button
  • On the left side of the screen, look for the "Format" section and select "Journal, magazine" (click on the "Show More" link if you don't see "Journal, magazine" in the list)
  • If PCC Library subscribes to the title either electronically or in print, you'll see the words Portland Community College Library in green under the "Libraries that own this item:" section
  • If the library has it electronically:
    • A "View Now" link will display
    • Select this button to see which databases provide the title
    • Select an "Access Journal" link to go directly to the title
    • From there you can browse by date, or look for links like "Search within this publication" to look for articles
  • If the library has it in print:
    • You won't see a "View Now" link, so click on the title to find out more
    • The campus location and journal dates available will display under "Get it in the library"
    • Select "Place Hold" to request a particular issue of a journal

Search journals by title/ use Journals A-Z

  • Go to: Search Journals by Title
  • Type the title in the search box (like Time or People) and decide if you want to search by "Title contains all words" or another choice from the drop-down menu. Once you have decided, click the Search button
  • If the library subscribes to the title, it will appear below the search box
  • If the library has it electronically:
    • You will see links for every database that the journal or magazine appears in
    • Click on a database link to go directly to the journal or magazine's main page in the database
    • Click on the year links to see links to specific volume and issue numbers
    • Click on the volume and issue number links to see lists of articles
  • If the library has it in print:
    • You will see a "Portland Community College Print Collection" link
    • Click on that link
    • You'll see the words Portland Community College Library in green under the "Libraries that own this item:" section
    • Click on the title
    • The campus location where you can find the print copies and which date ranges are covered will display under "Find a copy in the library"
    • Click on "Place Hold" to request a particular issue of a title, and be ready to put the issue information into the request form
