Places to Look for Scholarships
Online Collections
PCC Foundation Scholarships and Applications.
Scholarships from the Oregon Career Information System, from MAP. These are sorted by topic.
Searching Online
"Clusty" is a search engine that automatically groups websites after a search.
Go to clusty.com
In the search box, put
Scholarship* -.com
To get a general list of scholarships. To focus in a special area, say health, simply add the word 'health'
Scholarship* -.com health
After you do your searchs, you will see the results grouped on the left.
Books Listing Scholarships
If you prefer to look at print, the College Blue Book is available at all campus libraries, Reference 378.73
Other Scholarship Books can be found at 378.34, both in the reference and circulating collections.
College Blue Book Online
Getting Scholarship Lists from the College Blue Book, online version.
Start at the library homepage, www.pcc.edu/library
1. In the orange “Search the Library Catalog” box, type “College Blue Book” and Enter
2. Select the first entry, the electronic book version by clicking on the title.
3. Then click on the “Follow this link” line.
4. Click on ‘eTable of contents’
5. Use the pull-down menu to choose Volume 5- Scholarships, then GO
6. You will have a lot of chapter headings. Pick "Subject Index."
You will see many fields of study, and then strings of numbers. Each number is a scholarship. Now use the back button, to get to a page where there is a ‘quick search’ button. Enter the number of the scholarship in the “Quick Search” box, and click on the ‘within this publication’ box.
Finally, it presents you with the scholarship, plus anything that was on the page number that matched the scholarship number. Just click on the scholarship to get the information you need. Now you can go back and forth to check out your options.
OR- Just use the book version, and save yourself a mess of time.
