Guest cards
Who is eligible?
Members of the community who pay taxes to support the college, PCC Alumni, and retired PCC staff may register for guest cards and check out a limited number of items at any PCC campus library. Registrants must be 18 years or older, and not attending high school.
What identification do I need?
Community residents must show picture ID and proof of address that they reside in the PCC district. A driver's license, state or federal identification such as a passport, a state identification card, a voter's precinct card and evidence of current address is accepted. Retired PCC Staff must show picture ID and the "Lifetime Member" card issued upon retirement from Portland Community College. PCC Alumni must have an Alumni Card which they may receive from the PCC Foundation.
How many items can I check out? For how long?
Guest card holders may check out 2 items at a time. Books circulate for three weeks and may be renewed one time for an additional three weeks if the books have no holds placed against them. Magazines circulate for three weeks and are not renewable.
Although guests are always welcome in our libraries, priority is given to PCC students. Due to limited resources, student computer labs and reserve materials are not available to Guest patrons. If you have questions about materials governed by this policy, please ask a staff member for help.
Are there fines?
Yes. Fines are variable depending on material borrowed. See fines schedule.
Where can I return borrowed items?
Items may be returned to any campus Library. Book drops are available at each site.
How long is my card good for?
Guest cards are active for one year from date of issue. Cards may be renewed as long as requirements are met and any Library charges (fines, etc.) have been resolved.
Am I responsible for lost items?
Borrowers are responsible for all materials checked out on their cards. If a card is lost, please remember to notify us so that we can block checkout to unauthorized borrowers.
