VIDEO PRODUCTION INTERNSHIP

COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT ANALYSIS

Level :   One-year certificate

Location: Sylvania

Description: The Video Production Internship Program is designed to raise skill levels across a wide range of roles involved in video production: producer, director, videographer, writer, editor, technical director, location scout, audio or lighting technician, grip, and computer graphics producer.

Library Support: This program requires modest Library support. This is a "hands-on" experiential based program where skills are taught and practiced rather than knowledge researched. There are some book titles which will enhance the PCC collection for a general audience interested in video production; however, the program requires little in this area. Purchase of videos to illustrate various aspects of this internship will support this program as well as have a general audience among library users. Acquisition of materials about directing, cinematography, and editing (including biographies, history, and theory) are also supportive of this program. Because technology changes so rapidly in video production, emphasis needs to be placed on techniques and approaches rather than on equipment itself.

Relationship to other PCC Programs: This is an independent program with a very specific purpose and set of "real-industry" placements where effective learning is completed.
