Types of materials collected: Books, online books, periodicals, databases, videos, CD-ROMs. Professional programs rely heavily on periodicals (print and online), but books are also needed to meet accreditation requirements.

Types of material excluded: Workbooks. Lab manuals.

Chronological periods: Emphasis is on current material (last 7 years). Some older materials will be retained. Historical nursing books will be marked with a spine sticker.

Geographical areas: Primarily United States

Languages: English

Subjects and Collecting Levels: Two-year professional level. Undergraduate level for Health. For subjects, see links to course descriptions. Some consumer health materials are purchased for the Health classes but most items are aimed at nursing and allied health professions. Some alternative/complementary medicine titles will be purchased.

Periodicals Retention Schedule: 5-10 years. The emphasis in these departments is on current information. We will rely on research libraries for occasional requests for older materials.

Non print material retention schedule: 10 years. Review before discarding.
Only formats using current technology will be retained.
