Types of materials collected: Books, online books, periodicals, databases, videos, CD-ROMs.

Types of material excluded: Workbooks, lab manuals

Chronological periods: Emphasis is on current material. Some older materials will be retained. Examples might be histories of the discipline, biographies, plant or animal identification guides, anatomy, standard reference books.

Geographical areas: Primarily United States, especially the Pacific Northwest.

Languages: Primarily English; some Spanish.

Periodicals Retention Schedule: Consider individually. Core titles may be kept indefinitely. Consider availability through online databases and at local research libraries.

Non print material retention schedule: 10 years. Review before discarding. Items in outdated formats will not be retained.
