Description: The Drafting Technology and Design Program, formerly named Industrial Drafting and Design, prepares students on the basics of drafting, basic static design, kinematics, and a concentration on CAD 3-D software programs.
Library Support: This program requires moderate support from the library. The department itself provides the AutoCAD software necessary to support its computer lab. Limited materials purchased to support the Architectural Design and Drafting Program can also be utilized by these students; however, there is very little content overlap with architectural drafting itself. Textbook-like acquisitions, updated regularly, are the core materials needed. Videos/DVDs are an additional area where support for this program can be enhanced. The SAC Chair and program faculty have assisted in suggesting appropriate titles which meet the Library's selection standards. Both historical titles emphasizing stellar design exemplars and current titles which continuously update the holdings are appropriate.
Relationship to other PCC Programs: This program is independent of other programs . Some materials purchased to support this program will also be supportive of the Interior Design Program.
