1st Annual Library Prize Winners
Thanks to the Friends of the PCC Libraries who sponsored eight $100 prizes for outstanding student research papers. PCC Faculty teaching credit classes submitted papers for consideration in two categories: Humanities and the Sciences.
- Submitted papers were from regular class assignments, not special projects
- On each campus, papers were read by a group of three judges: a faculty member, a librarian, and the dean of instruction
- Papers were judged on: quality and range of research, quality of writing, originality or interest, and organization and content

Title: Where the wild things are: an introduction to wildlife rehabilitation
Comment: This paper has fewer sources in the bibliography, but the sources are integrated well with the author's thought and personal knowledge. The in-text citations are done properly; the essay is readable and flows smoothly. The sources quoted are various: newspaper articles and a book, both online and print. The key to the quality of this paper is the synthesis of secondary source materials with the author's thoughts.
