Library Catalog News
PCC Library is now part of WorldCat!
PCC Library has changed over to new subject research guides and a new catalog system. The new system, WorldCat Local, is your entry point to the contents of libraries around the world. The WorldCat consortium of libraries represents over 138 million titles in 470 languages in thousands of libraries in 112 countries.
As users of the PCC Library, you've always had access to these materials, but you had to go through library staff to get to them. In the new catalog, you can search just what PCC has, what Summit and PCC have (37 college and university libraries in Oregon and Washington), or what the whole world has. And requesting something is as easy as clicking, entering your information, and waiting for the item to arrive.
The new catalog also has filtering and tagging features. Filtering allows you to zero in on just what you need: information on mitochondria, limited to DVDs, and only at PCC, for example. Tagging allows you to apply your own keyword descriptions to titles so that you can find them again later. You will need to create a WorldCat account by clicking the "Sign in" link in the upper right hand corner to access this and other features.
Another new feature is the inclusion of articles in your search results. Click the "Get this item" button to see if the full-text of the article is available online or in print at the PCC library.
These are just some of the features of the new catalog. Please search it and discover more for yourself.
