Maria Wagner
I work in the library Technical Services department, doing both acquisitions and cataloging. I’ve been here for a year. It’s terrifically exciting for me, and I’m happy to show up to work every day – this is hard to believe, I know! Okay, almost every day. In this job, I’m constantly learning – and constantly realizing that there is infinitely more to learn. I’ll be starting library school in the fall, so I can use all the hands-on education I can get!
In a previous life, I was a florist – I am much happier now, having traded rotting stems and thorns and hyperventilating brides for books and computers and, um, barcode stickers. I’m from Alaska, but I’ve been in Portland for twelve years now, with no escape plans ever fully working. Most of my free time is spent chasing after my daughter, who is built of pure awesome. I’m an incredibly mediocre gardener, but tomatoes are forgiving. I like to cook and eat and read and ride a bike, all the usuals. And I, too, like science fiction quite a bit. There you have it!
