Picture of Librarian

Sure, vertical lines are slimming, but not as slimming as Photoshop!

I'm responsible for all of the behind-the-scenes work at the library: book buying, database licensing, subscribing to journals, cataloging, and managing the library's inventory and catalog software.  I don't do this in a vacuum, though, as I work with students, staff, and faculty to make it all happen.  Additionally, I select titles to add to our collection in these areas: the African Film Festival, the Local Music Collection, the Popular Reading Collection, and general areas where libraries should have books and no one else thinks to buy them.

I've been a librarian in both academic and public libraries, and I've worked in Michigan, Texas, Wisconsin, and Oregon.  After midwest winters and southern heat waves and hurricanes, I plan to stay in Oregon for a good long time.

For fun, I'm a big ol' nerd who loves science fiction -- Battlestar Galactica ROCKS!  And yes, I've been to many Star Trek conventions.  But I only go to feel better about myself -- I mean, I'm a geek, but I don't dress up as a Klingon (well, not very often, anyway).  In a previous life, I used to work in radio: once as an announcer at an NPR affiliate in Texas, once as a DJ at a Hot AC station in Michigan.
