Focus: Elevating the Essentials to Radically Improve Student Learning

Learn how to sift through and return to the essentials of curriculum.

PCC has an extensive collection of books.  As a member of the Orbis Cascade Alliance (Alliance), the PCC community has access to the collections of all member libraries.  Alliance members refer to the collective holdings of member libraries as one shared collection.  You can access these materials by searching the library catalog.  Materials marked Summit (this is the name of the Alliance catalog) belong to member institutions.  Requested materials can be delivered to any PCC library or you can visit any member library and check out materials directly.  Make sure to let your students know to add in 5 days lead time when requesting Summit materials.

The library also has local collections that supplement the curriculum across the college.  Selection is guided by the Collection Development Policy. We strive to collect materials that are geared towards students’ academic levels. In general, the library does not collect textbooks, but faculty are encouraged to contribute textbooks to the Reserves section. To find out more about the collection process, please contact the subject liaison librarian for your area.  You can also request that the library purchase an item at any time by filling out the purchase request form.
