Part-Time Faculty Eligibility Requirements
For the 2011-2012 benefit year, the College will look back at the instructional full time equivalency (FTE) for the part-time (PT) faculty members for the previous academic year to determine eligibility. The total instructional FTE for the academic year (four terms) will need to be at least 1.5 FTE. We understand that schedules and loads can vary term-to-term. As long as the total instructional FTE for the previous academic year is at least 1.5 FTE, the PT faculty member is eligible for the 2011-2012 benefit year. The benefit year is October 1, 2011, through September 30, 2012. In addition, the PT faculty member must be scheduled to teach in the 2011-2012 academic year.

Employees who receive the open enrollment mailing in early August need to complete the OEBB online open enrollment process. If you are unsure of your FTE, please check with your department.
*Insurance participants that become COBRA eligible may also be eligible for portability coverage through the insurance carrier if they live in Oregon and meet certain other criteria. We encourage people that are COBRA eligible to contact their medical insurance carrier to determine if they qualify for portability and to request information on portability programs that may be available to them.
PT faculty who are enrolled in medical and/or vision insurance will have the employee portion of the premiums deducted from their paychecks pre-tax. Many PT faculty do not get paid on every bi-weekly pay period, either because of a break between terms or not working an entire term. See Part-Time Faculty Payment Instructions for an explanation of what you need to do to keep your insurance if you are in unpaid status.
