Fall is a time of change, not only in Portland but in Community Education. Classes which appeared under Personal Path will be listed under our new section called "Work Life Balance". This section replaces the previous "Professional Enhancement."

We are offering 19 different languages this fall. The most popular is Spanish, followed by Italian, German and French. New this term is Swahili, taught by Grace Kuto who is a native of Kenya.

We are also offering a new course, "Art History of Italy" which will explore the major works of some of Italy's most famous painters, sculptors, architects, and artists, including Giotto, Cimabue, Cinquecento and Leonardo Da Vinci.

Another new class is the "Modern History of Israel" in World View. The class will focus on what makes the Israeli-Palestinian conflict so intractable and if the new US government can help facilitate peace in the region. Also, in addition to the weekly book club at Annie Bloom's, we added a club at Broadway Books.

I am so grateful to work for a program that offers so many interesting and fascinating opportunities for learning.

See you in class!
