Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence CMQ/OE Certification Preparation

The Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence is a professional who leads and champions process improvement initiatives in companies large and small.  This instructor-led online course is organized to prepare you for CMQ/OE certification testing as well as provide a foundation for the profession of Quality Management.  Learn from other quality managers’ experience, text, and the use of online ASQ Test Questions Bank to prepare you for the ASQ CMQ/OE exam.

Materials Required: The Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence Handbook; Fourth Edition by Russell T. Westcott, Editor and ASQ CMQ/OE Test Bank Questions

Attendance: Individuals looking to achieve their ASQ CMQ/OE certification who are involved with Quality Management, or support the quality functions within an organization, seeking to learn foundational aspects of Quality Management.

Technology Required: Collaborative meeting room: GoToMeeting (downloads must be completed on all devices before training)

  • Internet Explorer 7.0, Mozilla Firefox 4.0, Google Chrome 5.0 (JavaScript and Java enabled) or the latest version of each web browser
  • Windows 7, Vista, XP or 2003 Server
  • Cable modem, DSL, or better Internet connection (700 Kbps of Internet bandwidth and a dual-core 1.6GHz CPU with 2 GB of RAM)
  • Dual-core 2.4GHz CPU or faster with 2GB of RAM (recommended)

VoIP: Participants wishing to connect to audio using VoIP will need broadband connection, a microphone and speakers. (A USB headset is required.)


  • Course completion certificates are provided upon completion of the course.

Discuss quality manager’s role in organizational leadership and as quality champion and customer advocate. Deploy change agent strategies in support of organization-wide continual improvement efforts. Develop teams and participate on them in various roles.

Part II

Strategic Plan Development and Deployment

Review how to develop and maintain organizational focus on the importance of quality and performance excellence. Create quality policies and procedures in support of the strategic plan, and integrate those policies and processes into the tactics developed to support the strategic plan.

Management Elements and Methods

Discuss management abilities in human resources, financial, risk, and knowledge management applications. Use effective communication methods in various situations to support continuous improvement efforts.

Quality Management Tools

Learn to select and use appropriate tools and methodologies to plan, implement, and evaluate projects. Develop, deploy, and evaluate quality plans that can be used throughout the organization. Evaluate and recommend appropriate quality models or systems to implement in various situations.

Customer-Focused Organizations

Review how to identify and segment customers using a variety of criteria and tools. Identify and prioritize product or service design and development on the basis of customer requirements and feedback. Solicit customer input proactively and combine with market analysis and other research to achieve organizational goals, etc. Use customer expectations and feedback to manage continual improvement projects.

Supply Chain Management

Define, develop and implement supplier management systems from selection process through partnership agreements. Identify methods for assessing supplier performance at various levels of customer-supplier relationships.

Training and Development

Review how to demonstrate knowledge and ability in developing, implementing, and evaluating needs assessment, training delivery methods, and outcomes of training efforts.
