Course Description
Provides training in a variety of specialized legal software applications through lecture, discussing and other classroom activities in current legal software applications, which include legal software used for conflict-checking, timekeeping, litigation support and trial preparation. Prerequisite: PL 101 and CAS 133. Audit available.Intended Outcomes for the course
- Prepare timekeeping records using software relied upon in law offices
- Conduct conflict checks using software designed to prevent ethical conflicts for lawyers
- Utilize legal software for litigation support and trial preparation.
- Identify and participate in strategic planning regarding electronic discovery issues

This course will be taught in a computer lab. It will have required text; required readings

Skills developed in this class will include:
Understanding legal timekeeping and billing and use of computer software to track this information; ability to enter time and expense slips and generate bills; organize and retrieve information with the litigation support software; use of case management functions; conflicts checker software; and trial software use and applicability.
