Course Description

Provides the opportunity to sing in a small vocal ensemble. Includes directed rehearsal and performance. Includes possible local, regional and/or other off-campus public performances. Audition required. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion students should be able to:Use a beginning understanding of musicianship and performance etiquette to perform basic-level repertoryto a public audience as a member of a small vocal ensemble.Use a beginning understanding of basic-level music literacy to prepare and rehearse basic repertory as amember of a small vocal ensemble.Use a beginning understanding of rehearsal techniques and etiquette to follow a conductor,annotate music, and be a contributing member of a small vocal ensemble during rehearsal.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
The following skills are expected to br achieved to successfully meet the minimum requirement ("C" or "Pass" ) of the course
  • Attend rehearsals and learn individual parts
  • Follow musical ideas as instructed by choir director
  • Learn , prepare and perform vocal music from printed notation
  • Accurately notate and execute musical ideas as instructed by choir director
  • Hold harmony in conjunction with other vocal parts
  • Accurately learn foreign language lyrics to choral works.
