Course Description

Schematic development and use in diagnosis, service, and repair of HVAC systems; control applications and circuit evaluation. Prerequisites: FMT 112 or TE 9238 Audit available.

Addendum to Course Description

Refrigeration Electrical III will present an opportunity to develop and use electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer°s specification manuals to assist in system operation, evaluation, and installation.

Intended Outcomes for the course

  1. Identify electrical symbols and components
  2. Evaluate electrical control circuits
  3. Calculate electrical values
  4. Develop accurate electrical diagrams
  5. Rewire and test an HVAC system

Course Activities and Design

Lecture time is used to provide the student with applications of electrical circuits in the HVAC industry. The student will be expected to produce diagrams and schematics based on observation and application of concepts presented. Small discussion group teamwork will be encouraged to facilitate individual achievement.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

Assessment will be accomplished by completion of one or more written exams and completion of related assignments and projects. Refer to instructor syllabus for details.
