Course Description

Course to improve and strengthen achievement of competencies in working with young children in a group setting at their work sites. Includes using developmentally appropriate methods in recognizing and providing a safe and sanitary environment; using positive guidance techniques; supporting language development and planning a schedule and curriculum. Department permission required based on work experience and course work. Corequisite: ECE 130

Intended Outcomes for the course

At Level I, be employable as a competent teacher's aide with children, under a lead teacher's supervision.

At Level II, be employable as a competent assistant teacher.
