Course Description
Covers advanced concepts in the clinical aspect of dental assisting. Continues exploration of dental specialties, public health dentistry, and best practices management. Corequisites: DA 115.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Distinguish the various roles and responsibilities of auxiliary personnel as they relate to dental specialties.
- Describe the procedural steps utilizing correct armamentarium, instrumentation, and post-operative instructions for various dental specialties.
- Explain available oral health products for patients and their uses.
- Explain responsible, safe, and effective methods for the disposal of hazardous waste following best practices management.
- Develop and present a community-based learning project focusing on oral health.
