Course Description
This course provides an overview of the writing basics and demonstrate how to organize materials and lessons to establish an inviting and supportive writing environment for middle grade students.
Intended Outcomes for the course
- Create a writer-friendly classroom using an organized writing suitcase.
- Teach your students pre-writing, drafting, revising, editing and publishing processes.
- Explore the key elements of different types of writing with students including narrative, persuasive and expository.
- Use summary and journal writings or incorporate writing into all content areas.
- Create rubrics to assess students’ writing using authentic writing tasks and portfolio.
