Applicant Checklist

ETAP students

To be considered for the Evening Trades Apprenticeship Preparation (ETAP) program you must complete the following steps in each phase listed below and meet the minimum requirements.

These steps are extremely time sensitive. You will not be accepted into the ETAP program unless each step is completed. Please do not miss your appointments and arrive promptly.

Phase I

Step 1) ETAP Application

To complete an application, visit one of our offices:

  • PCC Cascade Campus Office - TEB 200, Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm
  • New Columbia Office 4610 N. Trenton Portland, OR 97203 Monday through Friday, 9am to 12 noon and 2pm to 6pm
  • You must have copies of valid driver's license or ID, Social Security Card, High School diploma or GED.
  • You must keep ETAP office informed of any contact changes if still interest in participating in training.           

Step 2) CASAS Tests for Math and Reading

CASAS Test required with a passing score of Math – 6th grade and Reading – 8th grade. Please bring picture ID and Social Security Card with you to the testing center.

Tests can be taken at:

  • PCC Metro Training Center
    • For information call 503-943-2000.
    • Tests are given every Friday at 9am. Best to arrive by 8:45 am.
    • Have your results faxed to us at 503-978-5099.
  • PCC Cascade Campus TEB 124 (in the Margaret Carter Skills Center)
    • Monday thru Thursday 11am to 3pm or call 503-978-5450 to make arrangements.
    • Once taken, please bring your score to the ETAP office – TEB 200.

Phase 2

Step 3) Information Session

The Information Session is an opportunity to hear more about the expectations and requirements of ETAP and to ask any questions. 

Step 4) One-on-One Interviews with ETAP Staff and Instructors

Step 5) Assessment Interview

Phase 3

Step 6) Urinalysis Test

Pass a UA to be accepted into ETAP.

Step 7) Physical Agility Test

You must be able to pass the agility test, which includes, but is not limited to, lifting up to 100 lbs, an obstacle course, climbing ladders, carrying loaded wheelbarrows, and scaffolding.
