They're every modern employee's best friend: the Desktop Support person (also known as Tech Support person) is a master of a range of services providing assistance with computer hardware, software, or other electronic or mechanical goods. These are the people you count on to manage desktops, laptops and peripherals such as PDAs and printers. They set up and configure computers for new users and are typically responsible for any physical work relating to the computers such as repairing software or hardware issues and moving workstations to another location.

So who do you call when your computer won't start up or your PDA's email goes haywire? PC/Desktop support. In other words, with this kind of training, your skills will always be in hot demand. You may be called upon to support operating systems, networking functions, mainstay software programs like MS Office or Outlook – whatever the issue, organizations of all sizes need qualified professionals to support the PC desktop environment.
