ESCO gets lean to stay strong
To stay competitive in the marketplace, ESCO Corporation and Oregon Cutting Systems knew they needed to implement lean manufacturing principles in the workplace at every level. CLIMB collaborated with these two businesses and economic and workforce development partners to build curricula that could be used for Kaizen events. The project included delivery of eight Kaizen events at ESCO bringing front-line employees and supervisors together to streamline processes.
Some documented results at ESCO included: reduced overall cycle time by 2 to 3 weeks; reduction of excess inventory; reduced overtime and operator stress; improved ergonomics and workplace safety; and development of a culture of quality, efficiency, and maximum productivity.
