CNA 2 Program

The CNA 2 Acute Care Training Program is an Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) approved program offered at PCC's CLIMB for Health Professionals. It consists of 40 hours of required classroom and lab skills demonstration, and 24 hours of required clinical practicum. This training allows students to obtain employment in many areas of the medical field; such as Assisted Living Facilities (ALF), Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF), Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), and Hospitals.

So if the brochure that you are interested in is not pictured on the right, please email us and ask to be added to the contact list for the term that you are interested in. Then, as soon as the brochure has been posted to this site, you will be sent an email notification.

New class for Fall Term!

Check out our Fall brochure for a new class added to our Fall schedule. Registration for this class will begin on Thursday, November 5th at 9am.

Winter Brochure now available!

Registration will begin on Wednesday, November 25th at 9am for our Winter CNA 2 classes. Classes fill very quickly so make sure you are prepared to register before registration opens. Further information about registration is listed in our brochure on page 5.

New for Winter term - we now have a CNA 2 class on the westside of town at Willow Creek; a new PCC building located near SW 185th and Baseline Rd. in Beaverton/Hillsboro. See our brochure for further course details.

Certificate

Upon graduation the student will receive a certificate of completion and PCC will submit the necessary paperwork to the OSBN for CNA 2 certification. Once processed by the OSBN, the student’s CNA 2 certification will appear on the OSBN online license verification system. The process, from graduation to online verification, takes approximately 3-4 weeks. The CNA will not receive a new license indicating their advanced training.

Program Overview

Students must have a current unencumbered Oregon CNA 1 license prior to the first day of class. Attendance is required for all class/lab hours as well as clinical hours. Make-up class/lab and clinical days are made available for an extra charge. Students will be required to have a current American Heart Association “CPR for the Health Care Provider – BLS” card prior to the start of clinical. These CPR classes are offered through PCC’s CLIMB for Health Professionals and can also be obtained elsewhere. The required textbook (Acute Care Manual for CNA 2, 2006 edition) is available at Sylvania and Southeast Center bookstores. Students will be given other instructional materials on the first day of class including a lab skills packet.

Prior to clinical, students will need to submit the following information. Each is discussed in further detail in the brochure.

  • Immunization records (TB, MMR, Tdap, Chickenpox, and Hepatitis B)
  • AHA Health Care Provider CPR card
  • Drug screening
  • Pass a criminal background check
