EMT-Basic Course: 10 credits
This two term (six month) course is designed to instruct students to the level of Emergency Medical Technician-Basic. The EMT serves as a vital member of the health care team. EMT-Basics learn skills which can save lives and limit debilitating injuries in emergency situations. On successful completion of the course, the student is eligible to apply to sit for the Oregon State EMT-Basic certification exams.
You are not certified until you complete all requirements of the Oregon Health Division and National Registry of EMT's.
To Apply
Bring photocopies of each item on the list below. Test results or transcripts, immunization documentation and completed application must be received by the EMS Department for review. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Student will be notified immediately if application is complete and will be given permission to register, as class size allows.

Placement tests may be taken at any PCC testing center. For testing center
information, see "Student Services." Permission to register is granted on a
first come first served basis. Class size is limited to 24 students. Check a
current PCC schedule for class times and days each term.
If WR 115, MTH 20, RD 90 have been completed within the last five years
with a "C" grade or better, the appropriate Asset Placement scores or
Compass test equivalents are not required. College transcripts with passing
grades in equivalent courses will be accepted.
Proof of age 18 or older
Proof of high school graduation or GED
Results of current negative TB exam or clear chest x-ray (within last 12 months)
MMR (measles, mumps & rubella immunity) if born after 1956
Tetanus (within past 10 years)
Hepatitis B immunizations (First series is required before permission is given to register.)
Influenza (required for students registering for fall and winter classes)
Varicella (Chicken Pox) immunity
Attendance at the first class is mandatory. NO Exceptions. Students missing the first class will be dropped from the roster by the EMS Department.
