2007-2008 Productions
In addition to offering a full range of theatre arts classes, Portland Community College produces three mainstage productions each season. These shows are staged in our state-of-the-art, 400-seat Performing Arts Center located at the Sylvania campus.
PCC Theatre Arts will be presenting two classic plays and one contemporary drama during its 2007-2008 season.
- The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde
-
The first offering of the season follows the romantic misadventures of a pair of English cads and the strong-willed women whose hearts they hope to win. In their pursuit of love, Jack and Algy confront the merciless strictures of tea time and the pitfalls of sincerity. No other playwright has dared to pose the question: can a man marry into good society when he was born, or anyway bred, in a handbag? Does it matter whether it had handles or not? These and other mysteries will be resolved in the fall production of Oscar Wilde’s delicious satirical confection, directed by Julie Akers.
Performance dates: November 8, 9, 10, 16 & 17 at 7:30 p.m. and November 18 at 2 p.m.
- Henry IV, Part One by William Shakespeare
-
Mingling comic exuberance with sober questions about honor and loyalty, Shakespeare’s medieval history traces the evolution of a very modern prince. Gretchen Icenogle directs.
Performance dates: March 6, 7, 8, 14, 15 at 7:30 p.m. & March 16 at 2 p.m.
- The Last Days of Judas Iscariot by Stephen Adly Guirgis
-
A feisty and fetching lady lawyer turns up the heat in purgatory by forcing a retrial of the man whose name has become synonymous with betrayal. Also directed by Gretchen Icenogle.
Performance dates: May 8, 9, 10, 16, 17 at 7:30 p.m. and May 18 at 2 p.m.
