This has been an ongoing project and last week they worked on finishing the retaining wall, dig post holes and spread gravel. There was a small but powerful team of hard working fun people.

Now they are almost ready to place the posts for the roof that will live over the oven and there are only two holes to finish!

It’s a determined team to complete the holes on Thursday if at all possible. Friday and Saturday work will be done to place the posts and build the roof. How exciting it will be to see the structure rise!

If you are interested in volunteering here are the details:

Thursday February 17 – 11am – 2pm

Peter Ritson our fearless leader and E Learning Center Coordinator will be at the site working, anyone who can lend a hand to help complete those holes will be very valuable. Let’s not see Peter at the site on his lonesome!

Friday February 18 – 9 am – 1pm

Instillation of the posts for the roof! If time allows some more gravel will be spread.

Friday February 27 – 9 am – 1pm

Let’s get a roof built!  If you have carpentry skills, are good on a ladder your skills will be especially welcome! There are many things on the ground that don’t require one to use a hammer too so don’t be shy about showing up. All happy hearts and willing hands are welcome.

Saturday February 28 – 9am – 1pm

Continuation of roof build and leveling.

Refreshment, gloves if you need them, good spirits and an amazing artist/contractor to guide and teach everyone how to build this amazing cob oven are provided.

This volunteer opportunity is great for your resume, your scholarship applications, your health and well-being (It looks like some great sunny days in the garden and the exercise out in the fresh air is always good for body, mind and spirit)
