Washed Ashore Visits PCC
"Washed Ashore: plastics, sea life and art" is a touring educational art show featuring large-scale sculptures of sea creatures threatened by plastics in the ocean. Every year, millions of tons of discarded plastic end up in our global waters where they corrupt reefs, kill wildlife, and slowly enter into our food chain. The brainchild of artist Angela Haseltine Pozzi and sponsored by the Artula Institute, these sculptures are assembled by hundreds of volunteers and school children who have transformed trash into art, including a sea turtle, giant fish, jellyfish, coral, squid and even a whale skeleton, all made entirely out of plastics found on our Oregon beaches.
