Housing
The cost of all housing accommodations during the program is included in the program fee. Students stay at a hotel during their first evening in Costa Rica. Students stay in dormitory style accommodations when they are at the Palo Verde Biological Station, the La Selva Research Facility, and the Monte Verde Cloud Forest Ecolodge Station. Students will stay with a Costa Rican family during the two weeks they are taking their Spanish language immersion classes at the Academia Centroamericana de Espanol (ACCE) Language School, in Grecia.
Meals
All meals, except for lunches while staying with host families in Grecia, are included in the program fee cost. During the two weeks students attend classes at at the ACCE language school, host families provide students with breakfast and dinner, but not lunch. Students may either buy foods at a local grocery store for making cold lunches, or purchase snacks at the ACCE cafeteria.
International Airfare and Airport Transportation
The cost of round-trip airfare between Portland, Oregon and San Jose, Costa Rica is included in the program fee.
Transportation from and to the San Jose International Airport is included in the program fee cost. On the first day of the program, a courtesy bus from the ACCE will pick students up from the San Jose International Airport and transport them to their hotel accommodations in Grecia. On the last day of the program, students will take a bus from the Monte Verde Cloud Forest Ecolodge Station to the San Jose International Airport.
International Health and Travel Insurance
The cost of trip cancellation and international medical/travel insurance is included in the cost of the program fee.
Local Transportation
All transportation between program study sites and mandatory program excursions is included in the program fee cost. Students are responsible for arranging and paying for all personal transportation needs in the city of Grecia, as well as between the cities of Grecia and San Jose.
Services
Some computers and wifi access may be available to students while attending the language school in Grecia.
Tuition
The cost of PCC tuition is NOT included in the program fee. To determine the cost of 8 credits of PCC tuition and fees, students can refer to the College Cost Calculator. Students are required pay their PCC tuition or make college-approved payment arrangements by the Summer term payment due date.

Included Excursions and Cultural Activities:
- Salsa dancing lessons
- A cooking class
- City tours of Grecia, Sarchi, and the capital of San Jose. Mandatory
- Field Biology class tours to:

- The World of Snakes
- INBioparque
- All tour, museum, and national park entrance fees are included in the program fee
Optional Excursions:
- Full day visit to Jaco Beach - Sunday, July 7, Cost : $55.00
- Full day excursion to Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall - Saturday, July 13, Cost: $85.00
- Canopy tour with a zipline in the Monteverde Cloud Forest - During the week of July 14th, Cost: $65.00
