Franklin's work explores the industrializing of minimalism theory by constructing found paper collage as a blue print for digital inkjet prints. To print is to press something onto the surface, Franklin produces currently not available or out of print, post industrial nation social economical workforce systems publishing contemporarily relevant digital prints. His object installations built of paper, pieces of wood, custom steel implements, materials that are transitive to collage making sensual, interactive, and dimensional experiences for the viewer.
Derek Franklin, a former PCC student is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at Pacific Northwest College of Art. It's exciting to present a young artist with such huge potential, pursuing his desires, and in the process of obtaining artistic endeavors.
