Rock Creek Student Exhibition

9am - 10am, Helzer Gallery, RC Building 3 Atrium

Stop in to the Helzer Gallery to see work created by Rock Creek students. This year's exhibition juror is educator and artist, Grant Hottle.

Rock Creek Visual Arts Fair

10am - 2pm, RC Building 3, Fountain Mall

Join artists as they provide live demonstrations and hands-on opportunities in a variety of media. Tuesday:

The Big Mobile- Mark Andres and Chris Knight

10am - 2pm, RC Building 3, Atrium Mall

Mark and Chris will spend two days painting and constructing a massive mobile for public display in Building 2.

Tuesday: Steven Zielke and the Rock Creek Choir
Steven M. Zielke, director of choral studies at Oregon State University, directs the OSU Chamber Choir and teaches choral conducting and choral music pedagogy. He earned his doctoral and master's degrees in choral conducting from The Florida State University where he studied with Andre Thomas and Rodney Eichenberger, and held the prestigious Clayton Krehbiel Fellowship, funded through the generous efforts of the late Robert Shaw.

Creativity Symposium

Join artists, writers, and musicians as they discuss the creative process and answer your questions about what is means to be an artist.

Wednesday: The Ben Darwish Trio
Musician and composer, Ben Darwish, is an important part of the nationally-recognized music scene in his native town of Portland, Oregon. Just as well known for his indie-jazz work as well as straight-ahead jazz, funk, afro-beat and pop, he leads and plays in bands who work in all of those genres.

Ryan Labar- Ceramics Workshop

1pm - 3pm, RC Building 3, Room 125

Ryan LaBar uses wheel-thrown, slip cast, and hand-formed clay to create abstract ceramic aggregates, precariously held together with glaze. Hear him talk and watch a demonstration of his process. Artist's website: http://www.ryanlabar.com

Thursday: Bike Theif
"If Typhoon and The Decemberists were to form a super-band, Bike Thief would be the offspring of that band. Dressed as if they were going to prom, these locals play as if they’ve been together for 20 years." - Zack Perry of BePortland.com

Bike Thief has been together as a band since January 2013. Their live shows began in front of a small crowd and have rapidly increased to much larger audiences and premier venues across Portland. Their live sound has been described as having elements of Arcade Fire, Built to Spill and The Fleet Foxes, all together in one. Bike Thief is a professional live Indie act with a growing following and a truly powerful live show. Their debut album is slated for a 2014 release and their most current EP can be found at bikethief.bandcamp.com
