2007 Art Beat Week: May 7-11th
at Cascade, Rock Creek, Sylvania and Southeast Center
Come and join in the celebration: art, dance, music, literature and theater - dozens of events at all three campuses and Southeast Center. All events are free, and all are welcome. Even parking is free during Art Beat Week.
The 20th Annual Art Beat
This year celebrates our 20th anniversary, and we are proud to present a great assortment of performances. From featured artist Mylan Rakich (metal sculptor) to flamenco dance with Solo Flamenco, Arab-American playwright Yussef El Guindi to print-maker Kurt Kemp, there will be events to inspire and entertain all.
Over the last two decades, PCC has acquired twenty pieces of art through Art Beat. Now, in 2007, we are proud to display all of these works in a revolving show, currently at Sylvania Campus and moving to Cascade Campus for the May 7th opening reception of Art Beat.
Featured Artist: Mylan Rakich
A large scale metal sculptor, Rakich will discuss his approach to three-dimensional compositions in mild steel and how process and mediums can dictate an outcome.
Rakich, an assistant sculpture professor at Portland State University, has worked as an art instructor for Wayne Technical & Career Center in Williamson, New York and at PCC’s Rock Creek Campus in 2001.
