original music. Her poems from her latest book, Tangoing with
Tornadoes: A Poetic Interpretation of Love, Lust and Regret,
offer insights on how to recognize when words harm and then how to help
yourself and others heal.

Babette Harvey—Ceramics Demonstration &
Slide Lecture

Babette Harvey’s intricately sculpted and carved
figures have won several awards including Best of Show from the Oregon
Potters Association. Learn about her artistic endeavors and see
her demonstrate her process for making figural wall pieces with
detailed carving in both relief and sgraffito.

Enjoy the lively and talented Reggie Houston,
Turtle Vandemarr and Tim Acott as they play classic jazz tunes with
their own
special magic, sure to make you move and smile. As an extra
piece of chocolate, Reggie will intertwine words, music and visuals to
trace the origins of jazz through Africa and South America to the
present day. Since his arrival in Portland, he has been a vital
part of the community, helping to create “Blues for Katrina,” which
raised over $110,000, and working with the Regional Arts & Culture
Council to provide grants for artists and art.
