Why apply the new D2L 10.1 look?

When students enroll in more than one online course, or have campus based classes that utilize a Desire2Learn component, familiarity with the interface is a positive element that we have control over. In a recent survey, it was confirmed that 69.3% of our students strongly prefer consistent navigation and layout in online courses.

If your course was developed prior to the Desire2Learn 10.1 upgrade in the Summer of 2013, you may still have the older look in your course(s).  If you used the default navigation bar and homepage, your course(s) were updated to the new look, automatically.  If you created and activate a custom navigation bar or custom homepage each term, you will need to recreate those in order to have the new look applied to your course(s).  This process takes less than ten minutes per class and only needs to be done once.

PCC offers this limited open forum as an extension of the respectful, well-reasoned discourse we expect in our classroom discussions. As such, we welcome all viewpoints, but monitor comments to be sure they stick to the topic and contribute to the conversation. We will remove them if they contain or link to abusive material, personal attacks, profanity, off-topic items, or spam. This is the same behavior we require in our hallways and classrooms. Our online spaces are no different.
